About Cures for the Colors

Southeastern Cancer Care is proud to announce our 4th annual fund raiser in Goldsboro.  Founded in 2011 this organization’s sole purpose is to assist patients in Eastern North Carolina with food, utilities, gas, clothing and other needs as they undergo treatment or recovery.

The Goldsboro combined series of fund raiser events to be held on a USATF Certified Course include a Marathon, 100 Mile Ultra-Marathon (Solo or Relay), a 5k, 10k and 1 Mile Fun Walk/Run. These events will begin at different times throughout the weekend from Friday 2PM April 25, 2014 through 8PM Saturday, April 26, 2014.

Last runner/walker must start the event by 6 pm on Saturday, April 26, 2014 to be completed by 8 pm.

100-Mile Ultramarathon (Solo) - BEGINS FRIDAY APRIL 25 - 2PM

This event is a competitive, timed, fixed distance Ultramarathon for solo runners.

100-Milers will run slightly more than 32 laps of the 5k course on a USATF certified 100-mile course

This is a fully supported loop, with aid stations including water, sports drink and solid food located in 2 locations each loop. 100-Mile finishers completing 100-miles under the 30-hour cutoff will be presented with a 100-Mile buckle at the finish included in the price of their registration. Final results will be posted on the event page and reported to Ultra Signup.

Fundraising is encouraged, but not required.

Marathon - BEGINS SATURDAY APRIL 26 - 7:00AM

This Certified Marathon is a competitive, timed, event for solo runners. Marathoners will run 8.5 laps of the 5k course on a USATF certified marathon course. This is a fully supported loop, with aid stations including water, sports drink and solid food located in 2 locations each loop. Results will be posted on the event page. Fundraising is encouraged, but not required.  All Marathon finishers will receive a participation medal. This will likely be the fastest, flattest marathon certified course available making it a great Boston Qualifier.

1-Mile Fun Run/Walk - BEGINS SATURDAY APRIL 26 - 10:00AM

The fun run/walk is a non-competitive event. Runners will run or walk a 1-mile out-and-back course completely closed to vehicle traffic. Fundraising is encouraged, but not required. All participants will receive a participation medal.

100-Mile (Team Run) - BEGINS SATURDAY APRIL 26 - 9:00AM

The 100-Mile Team Relay is a competitive fundraising event. Individuals participating in this event are competing to raise the most funds for Southeastern Cancer Care. Results are based on funds raised, not time or distance.  It consists of running or walking 32 laps of the 5k course on a USATF certified 100-mile course.

Teams may consist of between 2 & 16 members. A full team planning to complete the entire 100-Mile course would need each member to run or walk 2 laps of the 5k course (or a 10k per person, 6.2-miles).

This is a fully supported loop, with aid stations including water, sports drink and solid food located in 2 locations each loop.

Most 100-Mile teams complete laps with each other, not solo one after the next. Teams completing 100-Miles together in this fashion have 11-Hours to complete the 100-Miles. Teams interested in having each runner complete loops as a relay event (solo one after another) should contact us at (919) 580–0000  to make arrangements to start on Friday with 100-Mile solo runners and will have 30-hours to complete all 32 laps.

Results will be posted on the event page based on the amount of funds raised by the team. Fundraising is encouraged, but not required. All team members will receive a participation medal.

5K Run/Walk - BEGINS SATURDAY APRIL 26 - 9:00AM

The 5k run is a non-competitive fundraising event. Participants will run or walk 1 lap of the 5k course. This is a fully supported loop, with aid stations including water, sports drink and solid food located in 2 locations each loop. Fundraising is encouraged, but not required. All participants will receive a participation medal.

10K Run/Walk - BEGINS SATURDAY APRIL 26 - 9:00AM

The 10k run is a non-competitive fundraising event. Participants will run or walk 2 laps of the 5k course. This is a fully supported loop, with aid stations including water, sports drink and solid food located in 2 locations each loop. Fundraising is encouraged, but not required. All participants will receive a participation medal.

Plaques will be given to the top two fund raisers.
